Pastor Doug Simmers
is the Senior Pastor of Crossway Church in Bartlett
(Memphis), TN. His street-wise and often
humorous teachings express the heart of God and the teaching's of Jesus with a compelling relevancy for the people of God in the 21st century.
His compassion for addicts, the hurting & hopeless, is a hallmark of Doug's ministry.
Meeting people's physical needs and giving them a hand up out of the muck and mire that binds them;
training and developing a people of Christ who don't just sit in a pew, but actually
get involved and "do the stuff" Jesus did to help people and change communities.
An anointed worship leader
and songwriter, Doug also leads the
Crossway Worship Band, a multicultural group of
songwriters and top notch musicians and vocalists, that has risen
out of Crossway Church to record and share their original music on
a larger scale. With four 12-song worship CDs in tow and a fifth now in progress, they have sold over 4,000 copies, and are
currently receiving radioplay across the U.S.
Pastor Doug has
also led workshops in various churches across the nation on
Biblical worship. In 2004, he taught at the Draper Music Lover's
Conference and led worship at the Christian
Indie Alliance Summit
in Franklin, TN. In the 90's, Doug was a guest speaker and worship leader at
a worship conference the Anaheim Vineyard Christian Fellowship, where he first shared his vision
of Worship Evangelism in the streets.
Pastor Doug possesses the tender heart of a shepherd.
He loves people and is very involved in helping, feeding,
counseling and praying for people in the local community, and
birthing new ministries to meet their needs. He works in the
trenches with his flock, side by side, and helps empower everyone
around him to make a difference for Christ!
Pastor Doug
serves as President of
Community Breadbasket,
Inc. a food bank that operates out of Crossway Church and feeds needy
55 families each month.
Pastor Doug and his wife Robin
are blessed with eight children; Jacquelin, Joshua, Josiah, Jonathan, Jeremiah, Jayne Ann, Joanna
Grace and Jesse. They live in Arlington in a home built by Doug
and his brother Mike, where they also raise painted horses, chickens, pigeons,
and assorted snakes and lizards their home schooled children have
caught. Pastor Doug is also a full-time night Manager at FedEx. |
